Hello, my name is Rachel Currie. I was born in 1998 in Scotland but I was not like every other baby, I was born
missing my right forearm and hand. In my mum’s stomach I didn’t have enough
space to properly grow and there was a lot of complications with the pregnancy
which I won’t go into detail about but luckily I was born with my elbow which
made my life a whole lot easier. Unfortunately
though because I was squashed and my arm was leaning against the side f my mum
the bones in my arm split so my elbow can get caught and lock which is very
painful but I have learned to deal with it.
Whilst growing up I have had to adapt and find my own ways
of doing everything in my life from everyday things such as opening a bottle or
do a zip to more difficult things such as painting my nails and I can do
everything anyone my age can do but I have had to figure out how to all the things and now I am here to
help other children growing up with disabilities like me, or their family and
also just to tell people my story and talk about my life and my way of coping.
Every few days I will explain how to do different things or answer questions
that anyone may have.
If you have any questions or comments or want to find out
how I do anything email me on rachel.currie1998@hotmail.co.uk
